Dude, you're a tattoo artist; you can't ride your bike without gloves! I have one friend who's a dentist who quit racing altogether once he started working, and always rides with long-fingered gloves when he does ride. I have another client who's an eye surgeon, same deal. Only does time trials, and always wears long fingered gloves.
It's probably more important for you to wear gloves than it is for you to wear a helmet!
