Its hard to believe that nine years ago the tragedy of Sept 11 occurred. I will never forget that day and exactly what I was doing, I was in the Marcie Corps from 1999-2003 and at the time I was stationed in Camp LeJeune. I just got back from a training operation the day before and I was gone for about a week and a half, I was driving with my buddy to to go do maintenance and clean all the gear we used in the field because it was raining like crazy when we were out there. So we are in the car and the radio was on and the DJ was talking about how a plane went into the trade center, So I looked at my friend "Earl" and said, "Isnt that fucked up they would make a movie like that" The DJ went on to say about What a tragedy it was and the poor people in NYC. I looked at Earl and said "Oh shit my sister works in the trade center and she is nine months pregnant!" I ran in to the building because my cell would'nt let a line out. My recruiter, who was also from NY worked in my unit at the time worked in that particular building and i ran to his office and asked him if he knew WTF was going on. He was like call your family immediately. I couldnt get a line out to anybody, everything was busy. Finally I get my girlfriend at the time on the phone and I asked her where my sister was, She said dont worry she is home she didnt go to work today she was there at the trade center till about 1030 last night (mind you she was nine months pregnant with my niece). I asked about another family friend that was supposed to be in the building and she was missing in action (later we found out she got out of the building and was ok). I ended up getting in touch with my parents and sister after that and thank God everyone was ok. It turned out I knew a handful of people that passed away that day. Two cousins on my mothers side were fireman and didnt get out, one was a family friend of my best friend at the time. I could tell you if they deployed camp lejeune on that day we could have taken out any thrown at us, everyone was looking for blood. I think that day has probably shaped the life I was going to lead. After the this attack occurred people genuinely cared for each other and raised an american flag. Its terrible so much bad happens before patriotism is displayed in this country. I do love and everyday I would give my life in service to my city and country without question. The city bears it scars and we could see the repercussions displayed all over the city..... people do forget and the gravitivity of what happened nine years ago today and it should never be forgotten. People do really think we are the enemy which is ridiculous, because we decided to be free....I tell you my heart was stomped on that day the buildings fell, I shed times very few times in my life and that day I did cry. The memorial today brings us all together on this sad day, and it should remind us we should never for get out past because it is said, "Those who do not remeber the past are deemed to relive it" which is the truth......RIP to all my brothers and the people that past away on Sept, 11, 2001
