So over the weekend my parents/grandparents put together a minor birthday celebration (at my insistence although I really wanted just a dinner but bugger what I want and I still don't think they understand why I would want such a low key occasion - btw the reason will appear in one of the pics)
So we stayed at the Atura Hotel which is next to the Drive in theatre in Blacktown Sydney. The kitchen is pretty well stocked although the black utensil has caused much confusion even with my mother who is usually cluey about these things.
so apparently the rooms are in an industrial style which is why things like wall curtains are a thing
I thought this was a normal mirror but it has a magnified side (apparently for applying make up)
Just a random owl statue in the bathroom. heavy enough to bludgeon someone with if need be. the door slides as well since it also serves as the door to the wall cabinet next to the bathroom.
just a random yellow circle on the ceiling. I suggested that if you made the circle pac-man and the smoke alarm a cherry, you could then add ghosts to the ceiling
So just before we checked out me and my brother (neither of us are in this pic) were playing pool. It is much more difficult to play pool with a baby on the pool table. My aunts along with their 10 month old are back in Australia for a couple of months (they won't live in Australia because gay marriage isn't legalised - btw would it be aunt and aunt in-law or just aunt and aunt?)
It was a good saturday overall with a high tea for lunch followed by an afternoon dip in the pool (salt water pool even) despite the temperature which was dramatically lower compared to the 40 degrees of the previous day. We went to the diner in the drive-in for dinner which was decent although they seem to bulk make everything (although with the hordes of people there no surprise but still it was pretty meh) and then watch Mocking Jay part 2 which was alright but there were too many scenes which were too dark lighting wise (or possibly the projector wasn't set right. On the plus side we watched the last 10 minutes or so of spectre whilst driving out and learned that you can watch the drive in from the hotel car park and listen to it (assuming you knew the frequency). Then today after breakfast we went to the flea market they have on in the drive-in. seems ok although a lot of people selling just random tools.
For the record I got: A bunch of James Bond novels (too many to list), Some stuff for my European trip, Cards Against Humanity, various sweets including Ninjabread (ninjas made from gingerbread and I will have picks of those when they are made) and some dvd's.
