alright, now it's time to update this thing. who wants to read about another stinkin' party, right?
so anyway, this weekend. let me share a little interesting parts of it with you:
thanksgiving itself was a very low-key affair, spent at the mutaytor smashpad with a few other orphans. friday night i spent it alone, working on an outfit, and for some reason, i felt very much at peace, with myself and everything around me. i flashed back to a playa memory, meeting up with a woman at robot vs. monkey and talking to her for a very long time.
now at the time i was coping with an ugly crush that had stretched on for months. this made my experience less than ideal, and i worried about it showing. after a little sort of "truth-or-dare" game we played, it sort of came out, and she told me, "keep in mind that there are millions of people who wish for peace and love all over the world. you saw it with the gulf war. so whatever problems you might have with individuals, love is all around you."
i remembered it right then, and put on that lovely bjork song "love is all around," and felt very sated - and also wondered whatever happened to that woman. we didn't meet again after that discussion.
well, on friday, i ended up in malibu, at this channelers/psychic/kabbalah hoedown in one of the canyons. and who the hell should be there but that woman! it was very good, to finally see her, and tell her what that meant to me.
i suppose it's admitting to some selfishness to acknowledge that she was there with a b-friend and my disappointment in it. but these things never last very long, and there's lots of people in the world to love, so who cares?
on a related note, the most recent journal entry by newbie sg presley, if it's still up, is very powerful. it deals with a suicide of a myspace.com member, and she posts the responses she shows there to "remind [us] to take the phrase 'love life' more seriously." i'm deeply encouraged by this, since these statements certainly reflect the love this person just couldn't see, coming from all sorts of people. it's good to see that i can see it here too.
of course, i wouldn't be feeling this sanguine had i ended up with jury duty yesterday, but i managed to escape, thank goddess. i did see a guy outside of la city hall wearing a sandwich board, urging me to come to the aid of J-Lo. did you know that the FBI is trying to stop her from "revealing her secrets"?
no?
now you do. now go tell everybody.
(one last thing for this very long post. i promise you'll see a profile picture here soon. i have a few good ones here i merely have to shrink down to 100K. grrr.
