Many blogs, and comments in different threads, and probably even DMs to staff, have been posted and sent about this, but I still am extremely puzzled about exactly how a SOTD is chosen. Obviously tattoos, piercings, and brightly-colored hair/non-traditional hair style don't matter. I get that, since my view (as a straight, white male 😅), is that being an SG is more of a state-of-mind, not a "uniform". We've been told that, while likes are important, it's more about how quickly they accrue, and not necessarily the overall amount (although it seems like 2k is the minimum threshold). Volume and "quality" of comments is another factor. Don't ask me what the hell they mean by "quality". If we don't use big enough words, a model's set might fall by the wayside? While I would never leave a crass, "nice pu**y" comment, I also can't wax poetic about the composition of photos. I don't know enough about the medium, I'm a simple goon with a highschool education 😅. Finally, we have heard that "community interaction," plays a factor. It's not a 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 factor, but plays a part. With all that being said, I recently noticed something that contradicts all of it. I won't name names, since the model who got SOTD absolutely deserves it, and I wouldn't want to single her out and make her feel bad, but...
@olgakulaga releases her set, Love or..., and it reaches over 2k likes in less than a month, hundreds of comments, Olga is very active and engaging on the website, posting almost daily, active in the threads, streaming, etc.
Another set, released almost a full month before Olga's, reaches 2k likes... 2 weeks 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 Olga hits 2k. Comparable comments, but this model is far, 𝘧𝘢𝘳 less active on the site.
Guess which model got SOTD? 🤔
I will continue to blog and post about Olga, so that she knows 𝘐 care, but I can't blame her (or any other model) who gets discouraged over the seemingly arbitrary and contradictory selection process. Every single one of her TWELVE solo sets has over 2000 likes, some have over 3 or 4k.
So, Olga, if you're reading this, I hope you know there are people who notice the effort you put into everything you do. Not just all your beautiful sets, but the way you make this place somewhere people want to continue coming back to. If there comes a day you decide to call it quits, SG will have lost one of it's brightest, warmest shining stars. And they'll deserve to.
