I know it's "Love A Hopeful Week," but March 8th also happens to be @olgakulaga's birthday. I have to take yet another opportunity to let, at least the SG World know, just how incredibly special this woman is. To me, to this community, to everyone around her.
She has told me on several occasions, that she's just a simple girl from Belarus. While I know what she meant, she is anything 𝘣𝘶𝘵 a simple girl. Many, many months ago, I posted a blog about being depressed. I still didn't know anyone on Suicide Girls, and was just basically yelling into the void. But I remember saying that I just wished someone would ask how I was doing, and really mean it. The next morning, I woke up with a simple question waiting for me, from Olga: How are you?
Maybe it says more about me, than her, that that simple kindness almost made me cry. But I don't think so. Over the following weeks and months, we talked more and more, and got to know each other.
I learned that she's a talented artist, a trained chef, and an amazing photographer. I also learned that there isn't a stray dog or cat on the planet, that can't count on a snuggle, or at least a scratch behind the ear, if they're lucky enough to encounter Olga.
She is also a fierce lover and defender of justice, fairness, and democracy. A virtue that, even now, might still get her in trouble. You can tell when you talk to her, that even with all the problems her country faces, she still loves it with all her heart. And her heart is huge.
The only unkind words I've ever heard cross her lips, were to/about people who deserved much worse, whether they were rude, crass, demanding scumbags in her streams, or maniacal world leaders that rule their people with fear and an iron fist.
She shared her childhood home with me, and details about her family. She has shared some of her insecurities, and some of her dreams. And she has done that, because that big heart, full of love, is also trusting. And I'm eternally honored that at least some of that trust was put in me.
While she may not think so, she is also incredibly tough. It has been just over a year since she was abruptly cut off from her home, her family, and everything she's ever known. I know for a fact, not every one of those days has been easy for her, but she has always been ready with a smile and a kind word for anyone who needs it, never asking for it in return.
On a slightly self-serving note, anyone who has liked or appreciated any of the art work I've posted in the past year, can also thank Olga for it. She never once told me to go out and paint, but she is absolutely the inspiration behind me starting. Thank you, Olga, if it weren't for me picking up that old skateboard to paint your name on it, I may have never found something that I really enjoy, and that brings me peace.
And last, there is Olga's beauty. For all the reasons I just mentioned, her beauty goes light-years beyond her physical appearance, but the simple fact that she's stunningly gorgeous can't be overlooked, either.
For those who won't bother reading this, and are only interested in what she looks like, I've tried to include one picture from each of her sets.
I didn't get them all, because there are 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵. Some feature wigs and cosplay
Some don't
But they all have one important thing in common: Olga. So if you're reading this, and you know and love Olga like I do, or have never seen her before in your life, click on her name: @olgakulaga. And for her birthday, leave her a tip, or a like and comment on one of her sets (or all of them), or just a happy birthday wish on her page. It takes so little time and effort, and I know would mean the world to her, even from a stranger.
I love you, Olga, and I hope you get to see the hot air balloons some day. Happy birthday ❤️
