I have only ever watched the live streams of three people on SG, @olgakulaga, @shameless, and @magnea. I know I could and probably should do a better job of showing more support to more of the models, but it is what it is, and that's not what this post is about. Some streams are better than others, but every single time I've watched one, and I mean every. Single. Time. There has been at least one rude, inappropriate, unwanted comment or demand. Almost every time, I can see that it visibly upsets the streamer, and makes her uncomfortable. To their credit, all three of these ladies handle it with grace and dignity, because unfortunately they're used to it. I have written before about how we, as men, have to do better, but let's be honest, the guys who need to hear it, don't (and probably can't) read blogs. So this post is meant to address the SG staff. I still don't know the specifics of what happened in the stream on Saturday/Sunday, but from what I gather, it went beyond the common-place inappropriate sexual comment, to outright harassment and bullying, that resulted in one model in tears. I'm a nice guy, who's normally pretty slow to anger, but this shit had me flipping out. We can talk endlessly about how the male members of this site need to do better, and make this a more comfortable setting for the models, but what more are guys like @inkedodie, @truetrue316, @adam_bovary, @romous117, and so many others supposed to do. We can tilt at windmills as much as we like, but when it comes down to it, we only have the ability to reaffirm that not all guys are like that, and console our friends after they are hurt. I waited to speak my mind about what happened on Saturday (and on many other days), until I had a chance to gather some information. I spoke to a friend last night (someone who would be a blast to "hang out" with in a stream) who is nervous about streaming, because of the behavior of some members. I've also heard that in an instance where both a member and a model were "behaving badly" in a stream, swift action was taken by staff against the model, but not the member. So it all boils down to this: on a website that is supposedly by and for the supposed outcasts of the world, shouldn't a better job be done to protect them? Prove to the scores of beautiful, unique women on this site, that they aren't just a product to you. Maybe take your percentage of the tips they make, and funnel some of it into adding a moderator function to the streaming. Maybe I'm way off-base, and there are mass bans taking place behind the scenes, but it doesn't seem like it. If something isn't done soon, I might have to rethink my support of Suicide Girls as an organization. There's other ways to keep in contact with and support the friends I've made here.
