I've been posting some blogs on the SG site, treating them as if I were writing in a personal journal, for no audience. It's been many, many years since I've written on a regular basis. I started in elementary school, continued through high school, and when I enlisted senior year, the plan was to continue to keep a journal throughout my time in the Army. That lasted all of one day, once I arrived at basic training. There usually just wasn't time, and when we were given personal time, the last thing on my mind was catching up on journal entries ๐. There were some letters written when I was stationed in Korea, and again when I was deployed to Iraq, but I had largely given up on writing until I joined this site. Whether-or-not I was ever any good is up to the people who read my stuff, but I used to really enjoy doing it; and have started to enjoy it again. But I would like anyone who reads one of my posts to please leave me their honest opinion (see what I did there? With the title of the blog? Eh? Eh?). I used to get shot at and almost blown up for a living, I promise I can handle it if you tell me I suck at writing. Also, I apologize in advance for writing about the Army so much. I was discharged (honorably) a long time ago, but it's still a huge part of who I am.

@truetrue316, thanks for the tip. I've glanced at it a few times, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I haven't been able to get "9-Finger Mike," out of my head, and now I kinda wish I had cut my finger off. Strictly for the nickname.

Either that or โMikey 1-Thumbโ
