I sometimes wonder why I'm in my 30s, and I still rent a house instead of own one. Then I remember the kind of things I spend my money on, and it all becomes clear 😆. Don't get me wrong, all my bills are paid, and all my mom's bills are paid, but beyond that, I'm fairly carefree with my money. For instance, my sister (who is also an adult) once posted on social media, that she had always wanted to see a fox in the wild. I saw that post, and almost immediately went on Amazon to order a fox costume. I won't get into specific dollar amounts, but between having to re-order a "lost" package, and ordering another because the head didn't look right on the first one, I now own two fox costumes. I then drove an hour and a half (round trip), to sneak into my sister's back yard and run around dressed as a fox until she happened to notice me. Totally worth it, she loved it, and so did my niece and nephew. Then there's the ongoing Ecto-1 situation. I'm a huge fan of the original Ghostbusters movie, and one day I saw an add for a highly detailed, die cast model of the car from the movie. I thought I was ordering a $65, standard-size model... I was not paying attention. So, for the next 3 years, I'll be paying $65 a month, and end up with a model over 3 feet long and over a foot high 😂. But, hey, the lights and siren will actually work, so that's pretty cool.
There was also the time a friend and I formed our own militia. It's not real, we were joking about how Trump and his supporters were going to cause another civil war, and we'd have to form a militia to survive. Full disclosure, I am NOT a Trump supporter, this was while he was in office, and we were planning our revolution. But anyway, we did come up with a name, and after the name, I designed a logo. Well, once you design a logo, you almost have to have that logo made into custom embroidered patches. Let me tell you, even the minimum order of custom patches gets pretty expensive. Long story short, it was a long and expensive way to go for a joke.
But the best way I've found to spend any extra money I may have, was when I heard about Only Fans. Up until early 2020, I was guilty of what I assume most guys are guilty of: following my favorite SGs on Instagram, and getting my "spicier" content from other, free sites. Then I saw a post from a Suicide Girl on IG (I can't remember who or I'd give her credit), basically saying, "Hey guys, following us on social media is great, but try to remember, we can't support ourselves on 'likes'". It really made me think (and feel a little guilty, if I'm being honest), I'd already been a supporter of Suicide Girls culture for a long time, but I had never put my money where my mouth was. So I went to OF that day, and subscribed. I haven't looked back, since, and now most of my disposable income actually goes to support my favorite models/content creators. And I highly recommend anyone who may be reading this who doesn't already, go and subscribe to your favorite model's OF. If you're looking for recommendations, check out @shameless or @olgakulaga, they're not only gorgeous with great content, but they're both sweethearts and genuinely good people.
P.S. - The militia's name is The Fightin' R'coons, because we're clever like cats, but we've got hands, so we can hold stuff. 😂😂 Also, I have some patches left over, if anyone wants to join 😆
