Thanksgiving went really well, better than I was expecting. My brother, who has held a non-specific grudge against our parents for the past 8 years or so, finally seems to be getting over himself. Usually at holidays he is so cold and negative that it brings everyone down, and I sometimes wish he wouldn't come. But this year he was actually pleasant and cordial. That made things so much better for the rest of us. And the food was fantastic, as always.

The only negatives were that my mom has shingles. It's on the downswing, but it's still very uncomforatable for her. Definitely no hugs. And my other brother and his wife were with her family, so I didn't get to see them. They're expecting their first baby in the spring, so it's a pretty crazy time for them. But at least that means they will be at our Christmas.
