Alright, well shortly after we shut down the computers yesterday the power went out...probably around 2pm...and didn't come back on until late this morning...and at that point we were extremely lucky to have it! Only 3% of the greater Jackson area had electricity then...no grocery stores were open, only a handful of gas stations were open...no banks or hospitals had electricity..it was bad...I'm sure it's gotten better by now, but Vanny just went out to see if the local grocery store down the road was open and he said there was a line to get to the gas station almost a mile down the road...so yeah...that might be bad...I'm just hoping I have enough gas to last me another day or two....
As far as damage goes...no damage to the house as far as we can tell, but some of our fence fell down on one side, and the other side was falling down as a result of part of the side of our neighbors house flying into our backyard...it was odd this morning...we had the windows open becuase you know..no a/c...and it was freakin' hot...so I'm hearing Vanny talk to the neighbors about different things through the window...at one point Vanny let the dogs out of the garage to go to the bathroom and the fence fell down while they were out there and part of our neighbors fence had fallen down so the dogs were two yards away...so the woman was in our backyard saying "hello?" and whistling at the dogs to come back into our yard...and then the neighbor whose house flew into our backyard came over and I guess asked if he could get the piece of his house out of the yard....so I heard some talking, then I heard Vanny say "yeah, sure, go ahead" and then I heard the piece of siding sliding out of the yard...it was just funny at the time...
I think the most stressful part about all of it was having the kids for that many hours without electricity....if I had a dollar for every time I heard "I'm bored...there's nothing to do" I could retire! I was about ready to hurl myself out into the storm before it was all said and done! lol I kept looking at my cell phone, because amazingly enough it worked all through the storm...and was the only way to tell what time it was...naturally it is not working now...but everything else is! HA! lol But I kept looking at it thinking...is it time to go to bed yet? lol Isn't that just sad? Oh, and I had to stop taking my prozac because my blood pressue was getting too low....and so I couldn't really drink either because that tends to lower it too...so yeah...kinda stuck in the stress there....And you know...I guess I COULD have hidden myself back in the pitch black bedroom and sat alone staring into the darkness, but you know...that would have been horribly boring for myself, SO....I endured..lol
Can you believe I actually called my boss expecting to work today? LOL What the hell was I thinking? I was supposed to work today, but apparently the house I was supposed to clean didnt' have electricity either...and I tried to get in touch with my boss but to no avail....I hate not knowing exactly what I need to do though...And having said all of that I am going to venture into the living room and see if there is anything worth watching on tv...I'm in a lay around the house and do nothing mood today...

I'm happy that you made it out of there pretty much scratch free. Just think, like ten years from now you'll at teh very least have some good stories to share about this.
