Okay, per request here is a poem I wrote. It's actually a song, but you know...poem..song..close enough...I actually don't write anymore..this is probably one of the last ones I ever wrote..back in like, oh god..1997 maybe? I actually could have published this one. I sent it into a contest several years ago at poetry.com and they sent me an artist's proof and all I had to do was look it over and send it back in...They wanted to put it in "Under a Quicksilver Moon". But I never sent it back in..why..I do not know..I have like this self-defeating issue..and it sucks...there are so many things I could do..things I could be..but I probably never will..why..because I won't let myself...

I Close My Eyes

I close my eyes and I am safe,
This world has changed around me.
I close my eyes and all is well,
This empty world escapes me.
An empty world I cannot see,
can't stir the heart inside of me.
An empty world of sin and pain,
I turn my back and walk away.
I close my eyes and build a wall,
of ice and condemnation.
I close my eyes and push away,
the cries of this void nation.
An empty world I cannot see,
can't stir the heart inside of me.
An empty world of sin and pain,
I turn my back and walk away.
Am I a fool to just ignore?
To not join in this spiritual war?
Am I a fool to walk away,
to warm my cold heart on another day?
