Well, my artsy fartsy side has officially kicked in and I have made some MAJOR changes to the house! YAY! I got the living room, hallway, and oldest kid's room painted. We decided to go with an oriental theme in the oldest's room, and in the living room as well...so I've been working on wall hangings and such. I'll have to take pics when I'm done.. Oooooooh, and I finally got rid of that stupid burgundy recliner! It was just way too huge for the living room! The couch and love seat are perfect....anyone who doesn't fit can sit on the damn floor! lol Anyway, but there was a lot of space behind the couch, so I turned that into my youngest's play area. I bought her one of those cardboard play houses from Walmart last summer, so once I get some more paint, I am going to turn it into a Japanese looking house. I am also going to turn her plastic drawers (you know, those stackable drawers you get from walmart too?) into an oriental looking thingie....with characters on the front of each drawer. And in order to keep everyone from seeing her destruction zone when they walk in the front door, we are going to buy an oriental screen to put there as a psuedo wall. Um...and then we're going to hit the thrift stores to see if we can't find a bamboo table to use as a coffee table. I WAS using my cedar chest, but the kids ripped the lid off the damn thing...it's sentimental damn it! Not to mention, older than I am! But anywho I figure a nice cheap bamboo table, stained to match the other dark furniture, will look nice AND not be so disheartening if they tear it up by jumping on it or some crazy shit like that...you would be suprised as some of the crazy ass shit these kids do...sometimes I wonder what on earth is going through their little heads!
Okay, my odest step-child is so freakin hilarious! While cleaing out her room Saturday, I came across lots of goodies..this being one of them...it's a picture meant to demonstrate her nightmare (which occured after falling down and hitting her head on a metal pole) of being Kirsten Dunst! lol
