this one is sure to be long enough that no one will want to read it. it is also, surely, filled with things that will probably piss most people off. but if its only good for me to speak my mind, then goddamnit i will do it. (note: wrote this is class between moments of paying attention and eating, so it may jump a bit)
recent social experiments have been rather successful and simultaneously thought provoking. a couple recent chats accompanied by beer have circled around a near impossible debate. mankind. so many opinions, from all sorts of different angles. and i surely am not one to not hear someone out. ill take some things into consideration, and do, but for the most part, my opinions are pretty much carved into stone.
to what ended up being unanimously agreed upon, i really feel there is NO argument to: humanity as a whole is a terrible, destructive species. worst than a virus, and pretty much never positive to our surroundings. confused by itself, and misguided in its beliefs. for me, it all boils down to one simple fact.... we have lost our natural ability to adapt.
i believe i have made this statement once before, long ago, how we have stopped using our instinct and relied almost entirely on intelligence, science, and the worst culprit of human destruction... religion. sure, being instinctual can be hard and painful, but the abilities that accompany it are more than worth the abuse. this can be applied to personal growth and health, relationships, society, and even the environment.
to be blunt, the best thing that could happen to humanity would be the loss of half the population, preferably in some event that would send us to the typical post apocalyptic world. an event that would force us to live through adaptation. no more highway traffic, no more large corporations. goodbye to monetary value and shopping malls. to hell with a world that is completely technologically dependent. the more we learn, the further into science and technology we bury ourselves, the worse we get. the more people die, the more things stay the same.
(first jump point)
in the military, there is an understood relationship that exists between us. we have all been through something difficult, we have all dedicated ourselves to something much larger. we all swore to defend the values for which this country stands, which seem to be disregarded more and more nowadays, but thats something else entirely, so i wont get into that. because there are so few of us, and because the challenges we have faced, we just naturally care for one another. in the past, drills used to be able to beat the living shit out of future soldiers. if you weren't strong enough, mentally and physically, then you cannot be a soldier. over time, more and more of these weak minded people began throwing their childish and inane bitch fits and began complaining about the process.... stating such wild accusations like "we have rights" and other bullshit that you completely lose upon signing the contract. when i went through basic, combat training unit (thankfully) still threw some damn punches. we were even told "if someone is doing something that is causing the rest of you pain.... people do slip and get bruises in the showers....." and that was that. fuck soap parties, the showers were smarter. any blood just goes down the drain. this is absolutely needed in all life. pain, suffering, anguish. without it, there is no growth. this statement applies to all of my popular aspects of describing life: mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional.
even Disney understands this. if you constantly avoid difficulties and dangers, if you continue to block your heart and mind from pain, you will never fully mature. Finding Nemo "if you never let anything happen to him then nothing will ever happen to him." granted, that was in the protecting you children context, but can easily be applied to the soul. look at some organizations today. M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) a bunch of women who share a special bond through a terrible tragedy. this pain and loss creates a sense of care and concern. we never gave haiti two fucking thoughts until it got rocked by an earthquake. and it only get sympathy because its on the news. at 7 pm central time today, chili got hit with a 6.3, and and 6 am this morning, japan got one that was a 6.1. are you banning together to raise money for them? look at 9/11. right after that, crime dropped dramatically. people who were proud americans cared unconditionally about other americans. sure, there were, as with EVERYTHING on the this planet, some exceptions, but thats the nature of man.
(second break)
the tragedy of 9/11 actually brought this country together like no other even in recorded history. crime lowered, the economy went through a small boost, and it was possibly the only time that such a high percentage of american agreed on ANYTHING, which happened to be war. maybe the events on DEC 7, 1941 could equal.... but then again how many of you know off the top of your head what that day was? hopefully all of you. ironically, the combination of the growing weakness in humanity and the connection through tragedy formed together to destroy this agreement.
interruption. let me say this, seeing as how i'm about to offend people. losing a friend hurts. losing a family member is beyond any words. i have felt both, and fully understand the pain. and further more, being an ex-soldier, i am in no way saying there nothing bad about losing soldiers, but it is the oath we take and the sacrifice we are SUPPOSED to embrace.... again that doesn't make it not bad.
having said that.... as we started losing soldiers in WAR..... let that word sink in for a bit..... we sadly started losing support for this war on terror. and yes... i AM, i say again I AM a supporter of the war, and heres why: (and upon reading my original writing, i'm cutting some out... you'll see why) our war on terror is exactly that, a war on terror. i will agree, it is also about oil. as i usually rant and rave... there are only two causes for war in all history... resources and religion. greed and god. but yeah, i agree that oil definitely had something to do with our entrance into Iraq. if thats not true, then why didn't we go into Saudi Arabia?
Saddam Hussein was without question a terrorist. one of the largest, scoring himself 14th place in the worst genocides of all history. all history... that includes hitler, stalin, and many from the super past during conquests to rule the world. yet all of saddams numbers are of his own country. 600,000 people, compare that to the 406,000 american soldiers lost in all of WWII. and these are his OWN PEOPLE. throughout the world, his name was automatically attached to adjectives such as evil. now... we could do the country population a large favor by going on in and ousting the guy, and open up iraq to begin actually producing the amount of oil its capable of and stimulate the economy. is that really evil? is that so wrong of us to do? kill and mass murdering lunatic and open oil up to the rest of the world? save a country AND bring a bit of economic happiness to the world? about WMDs.... well, hardly anyone looks beyond whats in front of them, and it was actually the argument that they had the easy ability to get them... and saddam is a bit of a psycho.... so that ends that debate.
now lets get to things people have said to me that only brought on an anger that i have no compulsion is bringing back if certain ignorant statements are spoken to me. this one is one i've heard before, and i have actually ended friendships of my fathers by cussing out people for this one. do not try to tell me that most of the population of iraq hates us for what we did. saying such statement to me, i won't even argue you, ill just call you a complete ignorant retard that should have absolutely no right to vote for anything, not even american idol, and then ill shut you up with this: you were not there. you have no idea how many iraqi friends i have made, and how many times they have helped us. they have provided soldiers in the past with cover in their own homes during fire fights. they are always happy to being us food or water even if they are low. i have seen iraqis risk their lives to protect MINE. i have had MANY MANY MANY civilians thank me for what we have done for them. a few IED's is just the nature of humanity as i previously stated, a very small percentage or people who hate us for RELIGIOUS purposes (are you beginning to see my hatred toward religion?)
theres more i had written, but to avoid dragging the whole war discussion on, ill just say that saddam ruled his country through pure fear and killed many of a whim. define terror.... that is he. so someone PLEASE give me one moral reason why entering the country and destroying his regime was a bad thing...... i look forward to it. but to circle around to my point of the weakening state of people, i believe i was on how we became less and less supportive of the war as soldiers died. look at it this way. to date, we have lost 4395 american soldiers. yes, that sucks, i agree. but think of d-day, as i refer to it "operation overlord." quick lesson. operation overlord began on 6 june 1944 and officially ended 21 august 1944, when we finally had north france. total american (just americans, not the whole allied forces) deaths (death is different from casualty) was 20,838. two and a half months. and that was just the normandy invasion. but then there was still support. against an evil man who was killing innocent people, just like saddam. but we still supported it. whats the difference between then and now? like i have said, we have grown weak as species.
as our failure to adapt intensifies, so does our damage to the environment. the ironic tragedy is that most of our attempts to create the ILLUSION of environmental care are actually damaging to the environment. lets take cars, for example.... seeing as how i just love cars. im going to start this off with a shocker.... if you want to drive and continue to be good for the environment... then BOYCOTT hybrid and electric vehicles. a bit of a surprise? "but illy, electric cars give me good gas mileage, how can that be worse for the environment?" oh, on the contrary, it is true that the emissions coming directly from the vehicles are much smaller in comparison to other vehicles, however those emissions are the SMALLEST on the scale that cars are responsible for. check out something called the "dust to dust" study. it follows the production of the toyota prius. the most damaging aspect of cars is actually from production, seeing as how we have so many damn laws about vehicle emissions. the prius battery is produced in ontario, at a factory known as "the superstack." it is arguably the WORST polluting plant int he world. the area for it miles around it is a wasteland because of acid rain and air pollution. the air pollution can be detected in dangerous levels int he atmosphere at about 150 miles away. this is JUST the prius, and JUST the battery. for other cars, plants like this are unnecessary, as they do not have that kind of battery. yet because it burns less fuel.... well its gotta be better? this is not even to mention the economic affect of these cars.... which are retardedly high.
allow me to intercede with a quick thought.... when i say the environment, i refer only the ability of the earth to sustain HUMAN life. i do not give a rat's ass about the condition of the earth. it has seen times far worse than we can even comprehend creating and will continue to exist just fine long after we are all dead and gone. i have no respect for people who concern themselves with the earth's condition. for those who believe that the earth is a god or "ghia", im pretty sure that before we destroy her, she will destroy us....
ANYWAYS....
this is the growing stupidity of humanity. we would rather change our surroundings to fit OUR desires and needs than adapt to them. how do people adapt? lets use vaccines for a good example. we strengthen the body by injecting a non damaging version of a virus so our bodies can learn to fight it in the future. are you worries about global warming? then stop using the a/c in the summer and the heat in the winter (unless your about to die, of course) and just drink a lot of water. its helps the body in both scenarios. and we have this awesome thing called... clothes. bundle the fuck up. your body will adapt to temperature changes. thats how someone like me can go from the northern part of the country where it reaches single digit temperatures to places like iraq where it can easily score about 135 degrees.... thats the hottest i can recall seeing the thermometer. as a point of interest in this global warming crap.... look at history. "global warming is true, look at the temperatures changing so dramatically from last year!" look in your almanac. odds are, these crazy temperatures are pretty close to numbers from decades ago. "the ice caps are melting, and its because of global warming!" not necessarily.... its called... nature. the earth was once covered in ice... and since then... shit has changed. therefore, its fucking normal for the ice caps to be melting and for the glaciers to move. and glaciers have NEVER moved at a linear rate. so them retreating faster the further they go... thats NORMAL. im not denouncing global warming, just saying those are horrible arguing points for it.
to finalize: here is my solution, if you will. call me cold. shut down EVERYTHING for one year. EVERYTHING. no electricity, no stores, no piped water, nothing. those who don't adapt... will die. i guarantee that will be AT LEAST half the worlds population. many area will be completely without man, and animal and plant life in these area will ten-fold. as far as large city area are concerned... well they will be barren for a long time, but eventually nature will find its way in.
i know. it seems evil. whatever. many will die from the inevitable wars that are sure to ensue. governments will collapse, total chaos. there will be tribes and groups of people scattered throughout the world. people will start dying just from simple things. can you imagine being killed over a can of chef boyardee ravioli? insane, isn't it? this followed by countless deaths through disease and starvation. i won't even get started on all the warring that religion will cause. those who adapt to survive will begin to congregate together. these are those willing to do anything necessary for survival. these are the adapted. these are the strong. one year, and the total chaos... well it will eventually rebuild into civilization. restart the whole cycle.
yes. i am saying it. kill the weak. fuck it, ill say it in the worst terms. honestly, if the fight for the survival of humanity were to come up, kill the mentally challenged, the disabled, the plain stupid. let me clarify something.... only if this is for the survival of the whole species. if all of mankind were to die unless we painfully extract the bone marrow from a small boy to stop a disease.... do it. sorry, i know it may sound evil, but consider the alternative. either he dies, or everybody dies. if the world turns to chaos.... well fuck most of the people i mentioned will die first anyways. its alright. call me a monster. just because i think about this enough to bring about the ultimate questions in this area, call me evil. refer me to hitler. now, im not saying im going to do any of this. there is nothing any one person can do to save the species. but think about it. if nuclear winter were to happen, what would you do? if someone told you that every mentally challenged person in the world carried a gene that started to become a disease that would infect the world in 30 days, would you say "let them live" or would you look at the grand scheme like me and say "burn em?"
i wont do anything now. i can only affect my immediate, so i wont concern myself with the rest of the world. sorry, but thats just the way it is. sure, i still am nice to strangers, but that doesnt affect them at all. sadly, the only way you can affect someone's day is by being a total asshole. you think that caring for a bunch of other people makes things better? unless it is a tragedy, no one cares. not even the people who get the help. they dont give a rat's ass if your nice to them, or lend them a dollar for a drink. do you give homeless people money? aside from the ones that are actually acting homeless for free money, do you think that he will honestly remember you? no. he remembers the people who tell him hes worthless and should just die. you didnt change his life. you just kept it going for a bit, assuming he actually buys like... water or something with that money. ill just keep living my life. driving my car as i please, pumping premium gas. going to concerts, drinking beer. ill see a murder on the news and once i identify its not someone i know, ill forget about it. earthquake in haiti? well that sucks, what movies are on? hurricane wrecks a major city? well, guess i can visit there for awhile. isreal denounces us as allies and wants to attack iran? go ahead. do it. i dare you. start nuclear winter. prove to me that religion is worth nothing but blood and death. ill collect some guns, a good suv, a bunch of gas and food and water, add some good knives just in case... and go protect my family. ill do what i need to to adapt and survive. anyone who would stand in my way.... so be it. you or me.
humanity will do nothing but destroy itself. its just the nature of the beast that we are. we are too big for our own good, and we will eventually find the bottom of this spiral. and there is nothing that can be done that people ACTUALLY will do. sorry, but honestly, unless we find a way to annihilate our population down, were done for. thats my opinion, and i do not mean to be offensive, just stated what i believe in.... until someone PROVES me wrong.
recent social experiments have been rather successful and simultaneously thought provoking. a couple recent chats accompanied by beer have circled around a near impossible debate. mankind. so many opinions, from all sorts of different angles. and i surely am not one to not hear someone out. ill take some things into consideration, and do, but for the most part, my opinions are pretty much carved into stone.
