It all depends on who you're going with. You'll want something you can all sing along to, and some selections that are really chill. Then some that will make you look cool if you blast it in traffic.

Sing along songs:
good oldies stuff, everybody knows the words to Beatles songs (and if you don't then learn)
OFFSPRING (i see you like them)
Presidents of the Unitd States of America -Lump, or Peaches
Some System songs are good to sing along to
for me=80s new wave songs

Chill music to contemplate to:
Red Hot Chili Peppers-Californication and By The Way
Coldplay - Parachutes or Rush of blood

then, Music To Bump:
50 cent, but not In da Club - you'll look too out of date
Outkast is always good. Basically any hip hop with good beats
You can play Rage if you want to scare old people driving near you
