Government shut down... pretty pissed off right now. I hope that things can get figured out because as an active duty Army soldier sitting here in Korea right now, its a pretty unsettling feeling that I'm far from home and its acceptable not to pay me for my work or even being here. I feel worse for my brothers and sisters that are in Iraq and Afghanistan, who are being blown up and shot at everyday. If something horrible were to happen to them and this shut down is in effect.. they will have paid the ultimate sacrifice while the government won't pay out their death benefits to their families.
So for all you anti military people out there... think about this; If your job refuses to pay you... you don't go to work right!? What am I supposed to do when I'm in another country? Or is this my fault for taking this job?
**** Well I'm glad that crisis got diverted.

FWIW, the military still got paid during the government shutdowns back in the 90s. Still an ugly mess. I think we'll end up in another crisis and looming shutdown next Friday. All they did was delay things another week.

Yeah I remember, it shut down for 21 days and the service members ended up getting back pay. This whole thing is just a nightmare. l hate how because we are contracted that they think they can treat us this way.
