paul verlaine has a lot of erotic poems, but i chose the "serious" part of his poetry to share, the main characteristics of symbolist poetry, such as the importance of musicality, the taste for the preciousness of words, the idea that poetry should suggest - ideas, images, sensations - instead of declaring, etc. They are all characteristics that guide much of Verlaine's poetry!

The melodic and romantic “Autumn Song” is undoubtedly his most famous and musicized poem in more than one voice (from Charles Trenet and Leo Ferré to a contemporary shoegaze band called Les Discrets), I already mentioned the band in another post, in my favorite artists and bands.
