Things you should know about if you dont already
Movies:
Drama:
American Splendor. The story of Harvey Pekar (A person I connect with in so many ways.) a comic book writer. Great even if you have no idea who he is or if you dont read comic books. One of the most original ways to tell a story Ive seen in a while.
In America: a story about an Irish family starting a new life in early- 1980s America. (cheech knows what I'm talking about.)
While Im on the America thing I just want to say that If you havent seen American Beauty what the fuck is wrong with you?
Documentary:
Spellbound- This documentary presents the intense, real-life experience of the National Spelling Bee as seen through the eyes of eight young spellers. sounds boring right? Youre wrong.
Capturing the Friedmans- Calling this a good movie is kind of painful considering the subject matter. youll understand after you see it.
Foreign:
Vivre sa vie (My life to live) The ending of this move made my jaw drop. this would never happen in an American film.
City of God- The story of a boy that grew up in Rio De Janeiro. But not the happy go lucky Rio you might be thinking of. Let's just say that many a rapper has referenced it in song.
Magazines: (warning most of these mag's are expensive but worth it if you have the money.)
For Film geeks
Res: you get a DVD with obscure short films and music videos with each mag. Every month there is a screening in West Hollywood (not sure if they do it anywhere else.) of these movies and videos and they bring in the directors to talk about their work. Its a gas. Sadly Ive only been to two because I work. A lot.
Music geeks
CMJ: comes with a CD of college radio treats. Its the only way I keep up with music.
Feminist:
Bitch: ( Sassylass likes Bust better.) Do you know what a GTA is? At some medical schools, students learn to do pelvis exams on cadavers, women under anesthesia, or live models. A Gynecological Teaching Associate would be choice c. you would think that 40 pelvic exams and 80 breast exams a year would be... um... irritating. Tough job but somebody's got to do it. Thanks Bitch.
If you enjoy buying shit you dont need but looks cool:
Complex (my girlfriend Rosario Dawson is on the cover.)
Great Photography and music:
The Fader: the current issue has Snoop one one cover (there are always two) dressed as Willie Spearmint his new character in a INDIE FILM! hes going to be in called The Tenants. OMG hes actually going to be acting in this one! The other cover has Judy Marte. Never heard of her? Thats because shes been in exactly one movie. She played Judy in Raising Victor Vargas . (Another movie you should see.) And shes sharing the cover with Big Snoop Dogg. I love a mag that doesnt pander to the stars and when they do have stars in them they talk about more that just what new car they just bought. and the photography... beautiful.
Music:
Citizen Cope Im not fucking around.
Stiffed. Give then about a year and they will be college radio and MTV darlings alike. (a la Y,Y,Y. ) I think the lead singer is purdy. The has the cutest little squeak in her voice. Great songwriter too. I'll probably talk about her more later.
Carina Round: Smoked his cigarette cos his lips had touched it/ And I found out soon/ He sure knew how to use a hotel room How cool is that? She also wrote a song about me that i will post later.
Rachel Yamagata This song is from the perspective of a rebound girlfriend Gone/
She's gone/ How do you feel about it?/ That's what I thought/ You're real torn up about it/ And I wish you the best/ But I could do without it/ And I will because you've worn me down/ Oh I will because you've worn me down./ Worn me down like a road/ I did anything you told/ Worn me down to my knees/ I did anything to please/ But you can't stop thinking about her/ No you can't stop thinking about her
Anyone who knows me knows that I could go on forever with he music thing so Ill spare you. And because it doesn't start with an "M" and because I didn't want to make this any longer I left out "Books". Sorry. I have one more thing to say:
While the shaft twirls for G-spot stimulation, the rabbit ears flutter along the clitoris and the "pearls" roll and tumble at the sensitive opening of the vagina.
How the fuck am I suppose to compete with that!

I figured the breasts had burned holes in enough corneas... so I retired the pic. Besides.. I hadn't seen any nudies of my friends to justify it (cept Sassy.. but, you know, she gets her share of ass, I'm sure).
