Last night was the first time since arriving in Kuwait that I ate in a civilian establishment completely removed from a military installation since leaving America. It was nice, even if I don't feel it was quite worth the price tag. Got an after hours tour of the model ship museum after dinner. I have also learned a new way to describe opulence. Many American pop idols are rich and often flaunt their riches on their body and in their toys. The Kuwaiti built a dhow, a ship, the largest of its type in existence, for the purpose of being a land bound restaurant and covered the ceiling in 24 karat gold. I feel that holds far more awe than having gold teeth, fancy clothes, and an expensive car. Even a collection of fancy cars.
