It was fun while it lasted - 10 years of it. I came for the nudity, and stayed for the community. But the community that I had been a part of over the last decade is gone. Make no mistake, the slide for the site has been a gradual one. But instead of redesigning the site to stop the descent and put the beauty of this community front and center, it was decided that this aspect of SG (that had kept those of us OGs around for a decade) was to be put to a firing squad. I didn't think it would be *this* bad, but the silence in my friends feed on this site is deafening.
SG in its prime was the single best online community on the net. The open hearts of the local chapters, the great discussions on the boards, the intelligent focus of the groups - these I'd never seen this quality before and will likely never see again on the intertubes. The moderation of these facets of SG created a safe environment where people could be themselves without virtual and real-life trolling and creepiness. And in that safety, it let people and ideas flourish. Connections were made, relationships blossomed, friendships forged.
SG is no longer these things. Trusts were broken at the highest levels of command; the interface discourages communities from organically sprouting up and growing; and frankly I don't trust half of what I read in my feed (because it is too"this new site guyz is awesome!!1!111!!") since it reeks of propaganda. I am cancelling my membership, but will remain in contact with those of you who know who you are (shoutout to the CLT).
