Born 4th july 1983 and grew up in a small town in the Netherlands, I hear you thinking: "aren't all towns in the Netherlands small?!" Well everything is relative! So let me continue, born in a small town that used to be sea before 1967, called Lelystad.
When my dad decided to take on a new job, I was 12, and we moved out into the middle of nowhere near to Rotterdam and Delft. Lived there for about 6 years in a nature preserve, hence the abilty to speak to plants. Although some say it's just something I made up.
Moved out to go and live in the heart of the "big city", Delft at the age of 18 and at the moment I'm not even thinking about moving. Well moving from this way to small apartment to a better place, but I'll stick with Delft for some time.
For those who are interested in some school stuff: got kicked out of highschool and started working fulltime as a graphic designer when I was 16 at a nice company. When I was 17 I decided to try and get a paper so I went to a school called "Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam" in Rotterdam, to follow a four year study in Multimedia Design - Design & Technology. Which is basicly a whole mouth full of words for almost nothing, but I think I can blame myself for that. Working fulltime and then trying to go to school to see if they got some new stuff to learn for you just doesn't work.
After finishing this school, I decided to quit my job at the design company to get to see a bit more of the world around me. Took on jobs as a trafficguide, screwing on lids in the local peanutbutter factory, counting traffic and working at the local IKEA. Well those jobs might not have been the best jobs, but I got to learn a whole lot of new people and they all seemed to have a story to tell!
Somewhere in between all this bullcrap, in 2003 I started to take pictures, crap pictures that is. It wasn't untill late 2004 I got my d70 and started to get a bit more serious about photos. After I had my first experience with models late 2005 in Prague (Czech Republic) it started to get real serious, which made me quit my dayjob early in 2007 when I got offered a nice freelance position at a great company. Things started to really rock&roll by then and I founded my own company, i am ivar, at the first of july 2007!
Thanks to all of this I have been able to travel the world, to do photoshoots, give courses and meet a whole lot of awesome people and make even more new friends, in the last two years!
Well this was about it, and I think by far the most detailed history of my life ever recorded anywhere haha If you have some questions, go ahead and ask them right away!
