I attended 3 different graduation events for 4 different people this weekend. On Saturday, my cousin had a high school graduation party, as did Sean's youngest brother...yesterday two of my cousins (they're sisters) had a graduation dinner. It was in a very fancy restaurant and about 50 people attended.
I have a major issue with this.
The older cousin is "graduating" from middle school, and the younger from elementary school. Weren't they called "moving up cermonies" when we were younger?? Wasn't the word "graduation" preserved for high school and college only? I was so angry and baffled whilst sitting at this dinner last night (FOR 4 FREAKING HOURS BY THE WAY!!!). There I was in a semi-fancy summer dress, freezing my ASS off because we're sitting right under the a/c vent, wearing new shoes that almost caused me to fall three times, watching my bratty cousins be the center of "graduation" attention, getting madder and madder with every "congratulations" I heard. They even had those stupid graduation stuffed animals that you sign with markers, and not one, but TWO huge ass cakes (one for each child). People even came from out of state for this shindig.
I'm sorry, but I think this world can be completely excessive sometimes. I'm not saying there aren't special occasions that deserve a big to-do, but elementary school and middle school "graduations" are certainly not one of them.
That's my gripe of the moment. Sorry for the negativity. Hopefully the beautiful weather will cause me to write something a bit happier later. Have a great day everyone!!

what drives me nuts is the big birthday parties for little kids, a 2 year old doesnt need alot of people over and a huge pile of gifts!..........That's my gripe of the moment.
Take care !
