So, my friends have been big on the Cosplay idea for the next Con we go too. They already had the plan to do A Steampunk Alice & Wonderland (which is really fitting when you think about it) and I wasn't really planning on participating because with 2 kids it can be a bit difficult to get babysitting time, yadda yadda. When I came back from Gen Con this year I told my Mom about how my friends and I were sort of hoping to make it a regular yearly vacation. Turns out she thinks a week away from my kids doing adult stuff with adult friends is good for me. So there is a 95% chance I'll have her watching the kids next year. Which is awesome, and it also means I need to think of a Cosplay costume.
I was at first thinking of doing the White Knight from Alice Through the Looking Glass. He's a cooky old inventor, would have worked well for Steampunk. But he's also a really obscure character for anyone not old enough to remember that pretty cool movie that came out so long ago.
So, after considering it and hearing which characters everyone else was doing, I decided on designing a steampunk interpretation of The Caterpillar

Mine's let me take off for almost 2 weeks before. I try not to milk that one too often - I probably could, but I would feel bad about it.
