This is a photo i posted on Facebook recently (Well, shared to be exact). I went on to say that yes we need to face evolution in our life, because if we dont it is slowly coming to an end (for the human species that is).
Two opinions came onto the comments area of this picture that i posted.
one) I dont know a thing about evolution,because I dont believe the way this guy does. (What I posted myself is that as i see it evolution is slowly coming to an end because all we rely on is technology these days, and cant do much for ourselves?
OK, so I dig more into the convergent aspect of evolution, and some traits of divergent,and parrallel as well. He starts to hound me on his beliefs (which seems more of the divergent category) where as since there are so many humans that evolution within genetics is increasing,and mutating. Okay this could be true. However, my point on the matter was that with all the technology we have, that we as a human species (predominately in america) are stopping this chain. The reason I say this is that we soley rely on technology on a daily basis. We put more advances into our technology than we do into our own species,is my point. The less work we have to put into feeding,sheltering and clothing ourselves. Or even just going to a book store to get a book. My ideals are that we need to stop being so lazy, this is destroying our race and making it to where in a not so short,or very short, period of time we will be lifeless drones. Or it can go the other way, the drones themselves with take over, us being left with nothing to do nowhere to go, and not knowing how to take care of ourselves without GPS and a damn Taco bell. He says "oh so you think that robots will take over the world?" That is not what I am saying, however,with how smart A.I.(artificial intelligence ) is getting, that this could be the case one day. And we need to watch our backs..but apparently that doesnt make sense to this guy. The ignorance in every comment he made almost disgusted me. I get that we all have our beliefs..but cant you see what technology is doing to the world? (im not saying netflix and the internet is bad, im talking about other developments such as A.I. ) Technology is good for us,but it is also bad. It just depends on what youre talking about.
two) the religious aspect.
My family is very religious so of course i couldnt share something envolving science without pissing someone off. Which is what this picture apparently has to do with. Bill Nye here is not saying you cant be religious. He is saying that even if you are, no matter what you believe, you need to expose your children to these theories and not shelter them. People need to know that they have a choice in the matter anyways. Im talking mainly about homeschooled people. Obviously, they teach evolution in school (not for long probably ), but when you are homeschooled, you dont get exposed to these idealisms, and they have a lot to do with science today and our biology. Even if you dont believe it, they still need to know the history of it all,yes? And hell, maybe your child wants to look into science rather than what you need "faith" to prove. Bill Nye is saying we need people scientifically literate, and it is true that we do. There are christian scientists out there, that may not believe in evolution, but atleast they still know about it.A lot of people refuse to teach there children about evolution,but why? Is it really so harmless to let them make their own choices? Biology is fact. Science is fact. We have spent thousands of years developing our scientific experiements and so own, and a person picks up a Bible and automatically knows everything. That is the problem I have had with this.
My point im trying to make is that no matter what you do there will be someone to doesnt believe in what you believe in, and so fucking what?! We cant change everyones mind! Educate yourselves and your children, on every religion every theory and dont cram just one down there throat. We need education. We need science. Hell, i guess some of us need "Jesus". Face it! not everyone will believe what you believe, but they still need to be educated.
Religion and science are hard to compare,in fact, they may even be uncomparrible. One is based on faith, one is based on natural proof.
In science, only natural causes are used to explain natural phenomena, while religion deals with beliefs that are beyond the natural world. You dont always have to choose between them, or you can choose to ignore it all around. No matter what some thing will contradict in the end.
We DO need people that can take a look at evolution and not judge based on their religion.
Bill Nye the science guy, you have caused many controversy in my last couple of days, and you may have said this in a rude and blunt way, but lets face it people. Hes right.
I mean...come on.
I did not write this blog to piss anyone off, so if you dont have something nice to say please just dont say it. I figured here would be a good place to share this without everyone hating me.
Im just sayin...
I believe in Coexistence...sometimes peoples ignorance just gets the best of me.
Especially when the people i room with know i believe in Evolution and sit there saying its bullshit, and stupid.
