I had a reasonably busy weekend. This was good.
Firstly I took a selfie before work. Because I have no photos of myself anymore. And everything from the past 4 years is me looking short and fat next to my tall ex-girlfriend. I'm still short but I'm taking care of the fat part.
I've been keeping myself quite busy around the house. Doing chores for myself and cooking for myself is actually fun. It's a different story when you're cleaning up after someone else, or leaving the mess out of spite because you didn't make the mess, or because other things are messy so what's the big deal. My house is so clean and tidy and it's amazing.
I've stayed in on the nights but I've been busy during the days. Friday night I spent a good deal of time cleaning out the spare bedroom which is to be my new bedroom, because my new bed had arrived during the day. It's a big triumphant motherfucker of a bed and I can't wait to finally move in to this room. I ordered groceries online too and those arrived on Friday. I was amazed at how much fruit and veg I bought. So much so that I took photos because this is like a milestone in my life. I love sweets and junk food so bad but I have had almost none all year so far and while every morning there's a temptation when I buy my coffee to also get a donut, I still haven't given in.
Friday night is usually pizza night in this house. But it was my first Friday night alone and I'd just gotten a fuckload of food delivered. So I made a pizza. This pizza.
It's a multi-grain wrap for the base. I cheated a little bit by having sauce but it's only one small spoonful and it's spread very thin. Then there's tomato, garlic, rocket and ham with some light cheese on top. There really wasn't that much cheese but it looks like a lot when melted. I haven't completely changed my diet, I've just substituted what I would normally have with a healthier option, or eaten a smaller portion. This was yum and I want to eat it again.
On Saturday I had my second osteopath appointment. I've been feeling much better and I am going to start exercising again this week. I slept poorly though and so the appointment was timely. Awkward that I had to get down to my jocks this time though..
I went straight from there to meet @lu_doll for lunch. She was only in town for the weekend, for a baby shower. I love this girl. I'm so glad we've been able to continue being friends for the amount of time we have, which is probably about 10 years now. I used to have a lot of female friend and I've found that not many (if any) are really around anymore. But this one has stayed, even in the 4 different cities/towns she has lived in in the span of knowing her. She was the first girl I ever saw in a bar and struck up the courage to talk to having not previously known her. She sings like an angel and schooled me on singing better. I used to go to her apartment at midnight and watch movies and eat pizza, in between her chain-smoking and pouring her heart out about a boy. I'm so glad to have been able to catch up with her, if only for a couple of hours and a couple of drinks.
I took the train back to my station and got in my boss' car, which I am currently borrowing while he is overseas, and went to Ikea. It was an intense trip, not made easier by the fact that half the way there I remembered that I'd been drinking at lunch. Don't drink and drive. But in honor of @soho_ 's birthday I bought a chair for myself as a present for her birthday, which is today. This is the chair:
It's going to sit in my bedroom once I've finished the move. I watched The Lion King and Knocked Up on TV and called it a night.
Sunday I got up early to do chores. Crazy. My new washing machine arrived on Saturday morning and I was keen to test it out. I also used some power tools in the kitchen and poured sawdust all over the house, so I let the vacuum whiz around under my feet while I tried a second time to build my bed, until the drill went flat. I made this concoction for lunch, which is named a "mean green" juice, from a recipe I found online and substituted one ingredient:
It is 1 granny smith apple, a quarter of celery, a quarter of a lemon (this is the most important part, otherwise I'm sure it tastes like ass), kale leaves, 1 cucumber, and I used some white grapes in place of ginger because I didn't buy any. It is surprisingly decent. So I made some more up for lunch tomorrow at work.
I spent the afternoon at a friend's house playing PS4. Glad to see I haven't lost my skills at FIFA. It's been good having this particular friend lately too. He's been very empathetic about my situation and has really buddied up with me.
Today was work, but when I got home I finished building my bed. It makes me so happy to look at. And for the first time in my life I roasted vegetables. I made a roasted vegetable salad. Full of delicious carbs. But I'm OK with this. This has potato, pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato, tomatoes, kale chips and rocket tossed through it.
Tomorrow I'll be seeing Jimmy Eat World, Panic! at the Disco and Alkaline Trio in Melbourne, all by myself. This will be a bit weird as I've never been to a gig on my own. And it's a school night so I won't want to drink too much in hopes of being more sociable with strangers and ruin myself for work on Wednesday. So if by any chance anyone is goinggggg, see selfie above for facial reference. I'll be the lonely one singing all the words.
