I think I'm actually going to post some positive news for once. It's been 4 hours since my birthday officially ended, but it has been almost two days of fun and happiness. Despite the family problems (Daniel is home, Michael is not allowed back) and the car problems (locked my keys in! and had various acts of petty thuggery thrust upon it whilst it was parked outside Lu_doll's apartments tonight), I'm feeling great.
Thankyou to the well-wishers, and for the "happy birthday I_am_ghost" thread in SGAU. Thankyou for the comments and thoughts and the hugs sent my way in response to the last blog.
Yesterday was light and breezy. I woke up late and texted Daniel to ask him if he wanted to sort things out. I'd missed the reconciliation! He was already home. I'm glad. I took him out to get ice cream and before my party guests arrived he sat with me for a couple of hours and chatted. There needs to be more of this.
Party time rolled around and I was extremely happy with the turn-out. Only a few people didn't turn up, and most of those were expected anyway. They're maily scenesters who are friends for the sake of knowing someone else in the scene. So it was no great loss to me that they did not arrive. The only major notable absentees were friends in bands who had gigs on last night (this comprised of about 8 people).
I recieved from Penny a packet of lollies and a small thing of Pringles that I was to eat on my work break. But I ate them today. From the boys at '43 I recieved a lovely package proclaiming various acts of gay love towards me, containing a dozen Weet-Bix, which I may just eat. And after the party in town Michael from Lu's band shouted me a drink. The night was not about the gifts! I had lots of fun, danced, sung, laughed, smiled, drank, ate, hugged and chatted to my good friends. It was somewhat of a shame that the emo kids got a little bit segregated from the group. But not so bad.
I didn't want to go in to town but it became inevitable when the last of the carloads of lifts were being handed out, and various people on various substances needed to fulfill the destiny of their substance by partying on. So I went. I watched Lu sing, who was as always, wonderful behind the microphone. Chatted to a mate who is a prospective drummer for our band. Raging past 3am and my party of 10 remaining people (some had been added since arriving in town) were ready to leave. It's good though, because at this point I'm tired, and sick, and as it turned out, spewed up some red vodka cruisers (red spew is scary - "oh god I'm vomiting blood").
I slept through what would've been my singing lesson and had some food and some Powerade. I watched TV for a while to recover, and had Todd and Nai around for a jam while Nai was in town. Enter new drummer calloses, something unseen in a while since I've been singing all the time lately. I didn't sing today because I didn't want to blow Nai out of the water.. Except when I hopped off drums, grabbed the guitar, and started singing songs with Todd she had never heard before. Sucker... The good thing is that she's now aware of our work without her and she is pretty much consigned to staying out in Winton cleaning dinosaur bones for the rest of her life now anyway.
After band I was supposed to attend a 21st birthday at 8pm. Instead, at 8pm, I was getting ready to pick up my friend Caitlin and visit our friends Shane and Kristy, who, the night before, had invited me to come and hang out tonight. I locked my keys in the car... so most of the time there was spent trying to break in. Then a suggestion was made to call RACQ.. quite a wise suggestion indeed. Caitlin and I had some McDonalds and I dropped her home to finally go to the 21st party. I got in at about midnight and the party was over, and the birthday girl was passing out. Her brother came and got her and I was left to hang out with my friends for the next 3-4 hours. More happy times. I have a prospective drummer now, and we may be getting together next weekend for some jamming of the lamb.
Heroic deeds tonight included:
- catching Jade as she was falling backwards down the stairs
- being the cool friend who bitched about another girl who's boyfriend was previously the boyfriend of my friend.. does that make sense?
- 2 part: "babysat" Mel, which ended up being a night long hangout
- waited with her for her taxi
- saved many a drink from being knocked off a table due to my sobriety
- walked my little Jew_doll home
Well I'm spent. I really should sleep as my weekend of birthday fun officially ends when I have to go back to work tomorrow night. It wont be so bad. Because for now at least, I'm happy.

How's Townsville treating you? My cousins grew up there and they say that everyone is trying to get away from there for some reason.
Have a great day!
