Did someone get zotted?
Weird. I think I'm rather glad to be missing all the infighting. I'll never understand the level of hostility created from just posting on the internet. Then you get people in person and they're complete kitty cats. Sorta.
What is it about being on the internet that makes people get all freaked out and hostile?
Oh well. Anyway.
I am a pretty critical person by nature. I think my status as a Marvel Comics fan led me to be an apologist for their earlier movies, but not anymore. I am also not a fan of Mark Millar. The word "overrated" comes to mind whenever someone mentions him. I did, however, enjoy his run on Ultimates.
Which is why I'm not surprised I liked WANTED. It took some of the best little bits from his work but made them better. It had the same "every single character involved is a douchebag" feel to it but without that same smugness that makes me want to find Millar and do to him what another character in the movie does with an ergonomic keyboard.
That said, what happened to having heroes who were actually, you know...heroic? I kinda miss that. That's one of the other things that bugged me about SUPERMAN RETURNS. The movie was so ponderous and dark and that exactly the opposite of what Christopher Reeve's Superman was. I really want to see a movie with a bright and shiny hero again.
What? I'm allowed!

Everything was a more intense, right? And people were more forgiving of each other. Unlike, um, now.
