Arg.. too much work! And just got hit with an even tighter deadline then expected and still have to make progress on my school project (I haven't met with my prof since the semester started).. My body (is that the liver? I don't know, squishy bit to the left and down of the heart) starts hurting after every 3-4th coke. I'd walk away from my current game title (its just a lot to ask from a single programmer, I am doing just about everything) but I promised I'd get it done and since I'm the only one doing consistent code work I just can't leave the guy (and all the artists) up a tree. And honestly, he's a good guy and a great developer, its not his fault that no one else in Georgia knows Unity who is not already working for a giant company - I know he'd hire me some help in a jiffy if he could find it. And the artists rock, they're all former students of mine so I really want them to get a good title out and have a good experience going into this field. And its no one's 'fault' the other main programmer's wife had a baby, I'm very happy for him. Or that the other programmer we are trying out can't work his way out of a paper-bag if we glued scissors to him. (We will be trying a new one shortly, hopefully he'll have better luck, but can't integrate him in time for the 20th deadline before PAX)
About the only one with any fault is probably me because I burnt out a few weeks ago (been doing this schedule of 2-3 jobs + school for a few years now, and also had my ego really bruised by some interviews) and try as I might I couldn't get my mind to keep focusing. As in 'stare off into space because the head actively refuses any commands to look back toward the screen' and 'stare at something with no idea what you are seeing' I Really tried, but still fell behind way too much so I'm feeling extra guilty / determined to finish this. Fortunately I'm coming back into it now I think. (Which is good for my wallet since I refused to charge him for any of the work I did during this time - it just wasn't enough progress for me to warrant taking money from him, no matter what the contract said)
So guess I will be switching back to Mountain Dew (held off for a whole six months) and hoping my heart and other organs hold out for a few more months.
I seriously want and need a vacation, I haven't had a real vacation (as in 'longer then a weekend') in about five years. After I get my hypnotherapy certification I am completely switching to that field and only doing games / apps for and with my own schedule / profit unless something Very interesting comes along.
When this is over, can someone drag me out for a coffee or a smoothie or something near Portland? I promise I don't bite until I really get to know someone (in person), and then only if they ask nicely.

Other than that wow. Sounds like you have a lot on your play bud. I'd say take the time to cool off but I don't know if you can spare it. Anyway I wish you the best and I hope all goes well.
(I'm working on becoming a game designer someday, little secret from me to you
