Yeah, a computer finally!! So, I'm away from home, as those in the know realize but I do appreciate the comments, keep them coming, internet is a big link to real life. One more day here then I'm going out west for a little while to train and figure out final assignments, as I'm sure those of you who know others in this situation, you'll have to appreciate the vagueness in details.
So, back to waking up at 5:00 am every day and eating shit food, but I guess it could be worse, there could be no food. The guys I'm with are great, our families back home seem to be a wreck but we're just up and running, getting things in motion and doing our jobs. It's basically like the fire department but with a whole new set of brothers that you've only hung out with sparsely before. Now we have a year to get to know each other in depth, and we are moving fast!!! Evendently I'm the crazy one, go figure. I get ripped on for my non-military clothes (mind you they are fashion forward) and my taste in the oh so ecclectic "suicide girl" types. You know, none of them know what the site is, still. That's okay, I hate clubs, who needs more members?? But yeah, this is going to be an interesting time that we'll make the best of even if it kills us.
I spent the past couple days spending about a thousand dollars on misc. gear for the trip, I'm thinking of getting on the government when I get home. Don't get me wrong, they give you stuff to survive but the stuff that would make your life a whole lot easier, well, that's up to you. I bought a better pack, holster, lights, optics, gloves, med supplies, blah, blah, blah......so much crap that I better use after all that money, but I've been told by those rotating through that it is all worth is. I spent ninety dollars on these ugly ass sunglasses/goggles, but, a young Marine in passing told me, "Ninety dollars or never seeing again if you near an IED, you're choice." We all plopped out the wallets after that.
Okay, I gotta go pack for the California desert, friends, please keep writing, it's the closest thing to home I got. Thanks!!
