OK, OK @RAMBO @MISSY- It might be a lil too hard to pick top 5 songs ever! With hip-hop, radio rap, 90s nostalgia R&B and pop, obscure 60s psych-rock, Mexican ranchera ballads, turn of the century alt-rock, sad hipster girl with glasses rock, riot grrrl bands, SELENA, etc. all bopping around in my head:
That's the one ^ Always something.
BUT- a 5 song Sunday playlist, I can do!
So, as some of you know- I ride a scooter, soon to be motorcycle!- and I love it! I love the breeze through my hair, I love feeling one with the sunset as I ride in and out of car traffic...basically, scooter riders are modern day cowboys... but, the one thing I miss about car life is blasting a playlist while maybe smoking a cigarette and drinking a Mexican coke with my dog in the passenger seat. Since I don't have an MP3 player of any kind, and my phone is too full of failed selfies... I tend to just sing a song to myself on my way around town, after the jump are my top 5 songs for riding to work at the farmers market on a Sunday morning:
FRANCE GALL- C'et Air La: This is the perfect Sunday morning song!!! It's all cartoon Cinderella birds landing on your shoulders, and mod patterned clad teens dancing rhythmic, but asexual dances down the streets of Paris in spring... amazing!!!
SHAKIRA-Loca: Shakira.... is my Cher. Shakira is my everything. PRO TIP: Only invest time in the Spanish songs! Even if you don't understand them, the lyrics make sooo much more sense in Spanish! The song is particularly good for get up and go after a long Saturday night, and a Sunday that starts at 9 Am. and look how fun she is!! Let's all be as fun as Shakira is in this video!!
THE CLASH- Rudie Can't Fail: Another great get up and go song! And who doesn't love The Clash! I particularly like to sing the "I went to the maaarrrket to realize my soul, cus what I neeeeed, I just don't have!" It's so apropos! You get what you need, Michael!
BLONDIE- Sunday Girl: Duh! "Cold as Ice Cream, but Still as Sweet. Dry your eyes Sunday girl." the "hurry up, hurry up and wait" part usually gets in my head when I get all the red lights and I'm already (always) late:
BEBE REXHA, NICKI MINAJ, etc- Hey Mama: OK, this radio song gets stuck in my head alllll the time! and I love Nicki, but it's the chorus of this song that really sticks out. Unfortunately, the writer and singer of the chorus, Bebe Rexha, wasn't even acknowledged when the song first came out, and isn't even featured in the video!!! I hate injustice of any kind!! Watch her kill it in this acoustic version:
Hope some of these get your mornings going!
I've tried posting a video of myself dancing to bidi bidi bom bom, but it didn't work!!! And that's why I sing to myself instead of figuring out those dang pocket music players!
So instead of that, I'll post a BONUS:
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
Love,
Hypatia
