Hello all you folks!
Well, it sure has been a long while since this space has had something new in it. Montreal was fucking fan.tas.tic. Beautiful people, excellent food, delicious beer, and good pot delivered straight to your door by the one and only Hell's Angels (I shit you not!). Everyone is more or less fluent in French and English which made me feel like a dumb American. I tried to make up for it by learning as much as I could about the French-Quebec secessionist movement, which appears to still be a hot issue. A few years ago when it came to a vote, the province opted not to seceed by a margin of only 1 percent! In 1977 the French Language charter was passed making French the official language of the province. All street/freeway signs were changed and any business with more than 50 employees had to conduct its business in French. This spawned a great exodus of the English speaking citizens (who, while in a physical minority, held most positions of power and influence). The province, and Montreal especially, has sucessfully rebounded from the recession that followed while remaining a very affordable place to live. My friends flat was huge and he pays less than I do for my dinky room.
This allows Montreal to be welcoming to the starving artist types who in turn help make to city so culturally intersting. uhhhh....what else? The public transportation is great, the Metro trains run on rubber wheels so they are really quiet and the graffiti is spectactular. Whew. Enough of my hand-job for Montreal, you must go for yourself.
My ladyfriend and I just got back from visiting her folks in Ft.Bragg in Mendocino county. I got to help her father with the harvesting of "special" plants. That was...interesting. They seemed to like me and that is good. This next week we're going down to San Diego where the ladyfriend will meet my Mom...who won't be harvesting any "special" plants. Ha.
So there's all kinds of new shit here on the site I see. A dating service?!?! okay. That's neat I suppose.
Hope you're all well and don't hate me for disappearing.
