coffee and cigarettes and Leonard Cohen. can't think of a better way to start the morning. and yeah, i know it's not exactly morning anymore, but cut me some slack- i got up early yesterday, then stayed up late grocery shopping. and hell, i'll take 8 hours any way it comes!
got some good sleep last night, and think i'm finally back on the sunlight-friendly schedule. we'll see how this goes as the week progresses. i think as long as i can keep myself busy with housework and other domestic duties and obligations, i'll be able to get through the day. it's just hard not to go nuts when you're sitting alone all day doing nothing. not that my routine changes that much once Rhys gets home from work. but sometimes just having someone else around keeps your head from wandering off too far.
um. in other news, i haven't heard anything back about the job i applied for in Kentucky. but they told me they weren't planning on even posting the job until July, so i figure i've still got a while to wait on that. the job hunt here in New Orleans... well, i think calling it a "job hunt" is unfair, since i am not actively seeking out work in any way, shape, or form. i'd like to think that i'll not wait until i'm completely broke and desperate and unable to pay rent to look for one, but every time i think about it i get overwealmed. maybe i'll get a start on it this week. and yes, i know i say this every week. but one of these days, i'm going to follow through. i did get a tip on a gallery that might need some prints. (by "tip", i mean one of my friends/regulars from the bar scribbled down some information on a napkin and gave it to Rhys to give to me.) so i'm going to check that out tomorrow, ideally. i need to go to the art store and get a good portfolio to carry my work in if this is going to happen, though. right now it's just kind of stacked up in a pile in my front room. or i suppose i could just use cardboard duct-taped together. hell, i ain't tryin' to be all fancy, here...
i could probably write more, but this is turning out to be a bit long. and, more importantly, i'm becoming increasingly interested in making some lunch for myself.
here are some pictures, instead.
me and melvina at a resturaunt, taken when i visited home in may. the same ammusing entanglement of piercing and hair happened a few days before at a funeral we attended. we can't not make a scene, it seems.
well, until the next time...
