I'm definitely feeling like I'm entering a down swing in my internet activity, I say this because it took me nearly a day to force myself to write what I'm assuming is going to be a very short blog entry.
Yesterday I started the redux of my right sleeve. This sleeve has been an absolute mess for years. I've been totally ashamed of it and have been wanting to get it fixed for sometime, I just kept avoiding it. Well after finding an artist whom would redo my feet, I asked him if he would also redo my right arm.. and he agreed.
The basic story was that I wanted a sleeve to portray a jungle scene, which fades into a pitch black night sky where you can see stars and nebulas. What I got was a crappy, jaded, completely 2-dimensional "jungle" with some piss poor ruins, and a menage of poorly blended colors that look more like someone puked on my arm instead of a beautiful night sky. The only lucky thing about this was that the ink has faded so much that covering it up an highlighting the good parts should be relatively simple. Our plan is to work from the top down, starting by adding a lot of black for contrast, than going in and redeveloping the colors that are already there.
Here, Amelie shows off what I consider to be a well done version of what I wanted. This by the way, was one of the references I gave the artist 7ish years ago when we started the right sleeve.

Here however is what I ended up with (mind you this is the very first time I've "showed" off this work to anyone)
And here is what we accomplished yesterday in a short session, a vast improvement already I would say!
Also a version sans flash
So I know it isn't like a ton of work, but I feel like the groundwork that we have started lay-down here is really exciting! I really do look forward to not being ashamed of work that I have!
For anyone who is interested the artist's name is Chris Lombardi, he works out of the HOD tattoo shop in Buffalo, NY. Next weekend he and several other artists from the shop will be at the Roc City Tattoo Festivale, where I will be getting more work done on this sleeve at 4pm on Friday.

That is a huge improvement from what you had before to now. It looks like this time around, you'll actually get what you want.

Wow, that is awesome!
