So it seems that I don't update these days unless I'm waiting for something and am using my phone. I wanted to talk a little bit about my idea for my right ribs. Let me start with the idea that my right rib piece is to be passionate and deeply meaningful and is to represent something powerful. That being said sometimes I can see why people would call me 'over the top' or 'too much'. For example some of my more radical views including manditory birthing regulations plaent wide to reduce our population growth rate, I also have no sympathy for sunami or katsina victims. Both "tradgeys" stem from blatant over population problems. I didnt write this post to talk about my radical views, but I wanted the readers to get a sense of what kind of person i am. So now a bit about how I see tattoos. I don't get tattoos for asethetics. I get them to remeber a feeling, a time in my life where I felt so passionate about something that I never want to forget that feeling. So a few years ago I had the opportunity to listen to a wonderful poet named Jason Carney. The poem he recited was 'my southern heritage'. The poem details his personal journey from red neck skin head to political activist. The general theme of this poem is his own journey to over come racism. The other major theme is to encourage people to not be complacent, in his words "don't not be silent, and do not ever, ever turn your head". So here's my idea: I want an elm tree with the silhouette of a person who has been hung hanging from a branch, in the background a burning city. Over laying the tree a banner held by owl's (representing wisdom) saying "do not be silent, never turn your head". The hanging figure is not meant to represent just a man who has been hung wrongly, but instead is to represent anything that has ever happened that should not have. This piece is meant to invoke the ideas of political and social activism in those who see it, and to remind us to not be complacent and accepting of the things around us. BUT when i've shared this idea with friends i keep getting 'thats racist' and i wanted to ask opinions, b/c this really has nothing to with race.. in fact its the exact oppisate i want people to feel motivated to change the world around them, not succumb to complacency, input please!
