OH MY FUCKIN CHRIST . . . AND I'M FUCKIN' AGNOSTIC
I have the new A Perfect Circle album, and it does more than suck crusty donkey ass after having been fucked in the ass by 23 inbreed farmers with the clap . . . It pissed me the FUCK off.
The album is mostly covers, such as When The Levee Breaks, Depeche Mode's People are People (vomitus), and John Lennon's IMAGINE. Some very awesome songs along with scores of inspirational protest songs . . . in the original . . . before Maynard shit (or is it shat?) on them. He made IMAGINE sound sadder, without any hope, when it used to make my chest hurt every time no matter how many times i've heard it . . . now it sounds like crap that would be OVERLOOKED on the radio. If you're going to ATTEMPT to cover these great protest songs FUCKIN' make them POWERFUL!! Instead, they are bland, filled with cheesy backing vocals you could find at any Catholic church around christmas time (I used to be Catholic I should know). It seems he doesn't think he needs to make a statement musically since he has these past powerful songs LYRICS, but he did not keep them in the form they once were. they are only distinguishable by the lyrics alone, sang in a different rhythm (the worst one possible) and put to IMO, bland music.
He tried to make a political statement in his so called "restoring" of these protest songs. Calling his new album a 12-megaton bomb to throw into the face to the ruling class. Supposedly restoring the rock n' roll when to me it seems Maynard decided to go full blown EMO. Maybe he had writer's block, but did he have to shit on all these great songs thinking he could get away with it, just so his album could come out for voting season?
And I fuckin' love TOOL ever since 93' when I was fuckin 12, with the release of Undertow which was the first freakin album I ever bought ever. Maybe he expects HIS sheep to love this, but like in his sub-par Counting Bodies Like Sheep (to the Sound of a War Drum) (which I think it the only real notable song on the entire album) it's better to stand up for what you believe in and be marked a traitor than just go with the flow.
Well Fuckin' stab me with the traitor this album sucks. I should remake all those songs, just to make myself feel better.
off to listen to the REAL IMAGINE
