I've decided to split our property, sell our house and keep the other part to build on. It's super exciting! I've met with 3 architects, and selected who I want to design our house. He worked on this, and we want something similar to this, but on about 1/10th the scale and budget. Also, I'll be the contractor, so I can include the project in my portfolio for school, with a letter of reference from the architects.

Yes, things are taking shape. Anyone know anyone who wants to live on about 7 acres in a 2800 sqft passive solar timber framed house?

Wow, those examples are beautiful. I'm always drawn to such designs, and I believe most structures should have lots of windows; but I'm uncomfortable, personally, with that amount of openness. The prototype for the idea is Van der Rohe's Farnsworth House, which is stunningly beautiful, but not the sort of space you would walk around naked in. wink

And thanks for pointing out that I have a little more time, though the Arch' School website says it's usually the second Monday in January...

No. I wish. I'd make way more money and wouldn't have to put any effort into teaching anything remotely resembling a legitimate class.
