My first tattoo was horrible. It started out as just the bottom character you see right in the middle there, the Japanese word for love. The tattoo itself wasn't bad, but it was a bad idea to get it. You see, at the time I got it, my (then) boyfriend had the same tattoo. I got it so that we'd both have it, on opposite wrists so that the word "love" touched when we held hands. Well first of all, he was an enormous douchebag who would never hold my hand, and second of all, HIS EX had the same tattoo as well.
I finally got sick of having the same tattoo as his ex and decided to change the tattoo by adding a character and some sakura flowers, making the meaning "beloved" instead of "love." The reason behind this is that his name was David and the name David means beloved. So it was a sort of way to get his name tattooed on me without actually getting his name tattooed on me.
Well long story short, he broke up with me while I was six months pregnant and a week before Valentine's Day in an attempt to get back with his ex. Since then, I have a new love of my life; my baby. She is now almost two years old and I love her more than anything in this world. She is absolutely my beloved and I say now that this tattoo is for her. There is no love on earth like the love a parent has for their child.
