This week has been shitty. I dont have the energy to go into it in detail, but it involved cars, friends, jobs (or lack thereof), and my cell. I have decided to take solace in books. I am now on a quest to read a bunch of books from my childhood. This idea was actually started by something I saw in Angel's profile. One of her favorite books is The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, one I loved when I was younger. I decided it was high time I read it again. Then yesterday, I was talking to a friend who mentioned the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie Tim Burton is making. I dont like the original movie very much, but the book is great in my opinion. I pulled that out too. Shadowmancer mentioned The Phantom Tollbooth in his profile another terrific book so that too went on the list. I dont own it anymore though so I went into a used bookstore today. Unfortunately, they did not have a copy, but what I did find was a copy of Tuck Everlasting. I should be set for a few days at least.
ooo aaa

So, thank you to Shadowmancer and Angel for giving me something fun to focus on. biggrin

i have a friend who *loves* the princess bride movie... i recommended the book to her and after she read it she said she couldn't figure out how i could like it so much. she finds it horribly depressing and nothing like the movie, and i can kinda see how a person might feel that way. it's one of my favorites, though.

another book that's oddly different from the movie is the neverending story - so strange!

but yeah, there are so many good YA novels - i was always a big fan of ozma of oz. biggrin read it over and over again as a kid!

I don't know if you've ever seen the sequl to The Neverending Story. It's got Jonathan Brandis in it. I ended up watching it a few months ago. The second movie is actually (an incredibly poorly done) version of the second half of the book. Which I liked, because it means that someone wanted to tell the whole story. I didn't like it because the second half of the book fucking sucked, therefore the movie sucked. I agree with you about the book, though. Strange. Very strange.
