Just got done watching National Treasure for the first time. It was a really good movie. I really liked the scene where Nick Cage and his accomplice were looking at the Declaration of Independence and him saying "Nobody talks like that anymore." He's right. "we hold these truths to be self-evident" that is powerful.
The line he read has particular importance today: "when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Depotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
I cannot help but think of a bit from George Carlin, when he was speaking about elections. "Where are all of these bright people of conscious?" Who are we electing to office in these times? It seems, more and more, the wicked, those that place themselves or their personal ambition above the common good.
