It's just been one of those weeks. Earlier I twisted my ankle and have been hobbling around with and without crutches all weekend. Tonight, the carbon monoxide alarm in my apartment starts beeping. The batteries were just changed a month or two ago, but I tried replacing them with fresh batteries with no effect. So either there is a leak (unlikely) or the alarm itself is malfunctioning (more likely). But not being sure, I decided not to take the batteries out and ignore it. Instead I've booked the cheapest local motelroom I could find and will have the building maintenance check it out Monday morning. Ideally I'll get reimbursed for the motel according to my lease. But at least I'll get a good night sleep. Grrrrrrrrrr. Can't wait to see what else Monday brings!

@coraline thanks dear. Good luck is always welcome (if elusive)

Update: no one died. As it happens, many of the alarms are malfunctioning, although a little heads-up from building management would have been greatly appreciated. They took out the batteries today, and will replace the alarms "soon." Bastards will probably wait until Jan so they can bill it to the next quarter.
