Oh crap. Guess I owe everyone an update. Well, technically I only owe koala one, since she's called my bluff and posted pics from her Vegas weekend. If only I could remember what I did over the weekend. [short break while I bang my head against the wall to loosen the rust]
I guess it was ok, as weekends go. Saw two films. One of them actually brought a couple of tears to my eye - which is something that happens once every few years or so. (I'm not proud of that, but it's true.) It was a romantic comedy girl-girl film starring Piper Perabo (she's quite the hottie, almost as good as Scarlett Johansson, who I'm fairly obsessed with, if you haven't noticed). It's called Imagine Me & You - from the lyrics of its theme song "Happy Together."
The other film was one I'd seen already (The Matador) but I went with a friend who needed distraction after recently breaking up with her bf. I really like this one - also a comedy. It has some wonderful dialog (colorful at times) and casting. I never realized Pierce Brosnan can act.
And of course, the Super Bowl game was quite a distraction, despite that whichever team I want to win, the other one always does. I call it the Cubs Fan Curse. Some friends were supposed to come over for the game, but they changed their minds, so I took it upon myself to finish off a bottle of wine and some cheese over the course of the evening.
I also finished a book that proved more entertaining than expected. It's called The Game, by Neil Strauss and is supposedly a true story of the author's life in the pick-up artist (PUA) community. Although I cannot condone some of the methods used to try and get as many phone numbers (and other "successes") as possible, I can certainly understand the fascination lots of AFCs (average frustrated chumps) might have with trying to unlearn bad habits and gain self-confidence. Many of you girls may enjoy knowing about the techniques guys are using to try and get you in bed. Some of you may be using similar techniques to get guys and/or girls in bed too, so I'm not judging anyone.
Finally, time for "rant-of the-week" - inspired by koala's Grinds My Gears thread. This week's topic - what fucking idiots really believe that women should be banned from Olympic ski jumping, for medical or any other reasons? I mean, really!
