Some randomness, to kick-off the new year.
Since I have some Swedish ancestors, it was particularly exciting to see a cable tv program about a hotel in Lapland, built every year from ice, and come springtime it just melts away. The next year they design a new one. How absurd - but it's true. You can book a room for "only" about $350/night too.
Ice Hotel
Ice Bar
I also can't resist a little pimping for my favorite indie folk/rock singer named Julie Loyd. Check her out if you get a chance
And finally, a quote from Kurt Vonnegut's latest book A Man without a Country, my current bedside reading. "I don't know about you, but I practice a disorganized religion. I belong to an unholy order. We call ourselves "Our Lady of Perpetual Astonishment.""

Yeah, isn't ti cool with the ice hotell? I've been there but didn't stay the night though. It's very beautiful with everything made out of snow and ice, like out of a fairy-tale.
