I had a really shitty day at work(s) today.
It didn't help that I woke up 55 minutes late. My mom came in and said "Matt! It's 7:15" Shit. Like my boss said once: "Fuck, I woke up, it's a long day"
So, I get ready for work, call in a blatant lie to cover my ass with my boss. I didn't feel good about it, but I don't really feel good about anything about working at my old job now. It's just a waste of time. Is there an employee version of a 'lame duck' president?
I didn't feel productive at all this morning. I'm getting glares from my co-workers there now. They know I'm leaving, they want me to leave, but they don't say anything.
Then, it takes an hour to get from one job to the next and get lunch--usually some crappy fast food.
At my second job, I feel like I don't have enough time to do half the things that I'm supposed to be doing, and that's disappointing everyone there--they want me there full time so I can get shit done. I get enough of it done. Actually I apparently get more than enough done depending on who you talk to. Someone said today "Man, you are working entirely too hard right now." It's like... "well fuck, what else am I supposed to do? I don't have a computer to dick around in, and if I just sat around doing nothing, I'd be 1) bored and 2) caught by the guy who has a list of shit for me to do." I don't say that, I just chuckle and give him a grin.
------------------------
( Good stuff : i.e. planning for the long term )
I can't wait to start this job full time. I won't have to drive nearly as far--actually I'll be able to take MAX into work. I can't wait to start learning how to do actual work stuff. I'm going to go to PSU in winter to start my Civil Engineering B.S. (M.S.?). That way, I can start the path towards being a P.E. (Professional Engineer) sooner rather than later.
It kind of feels nice working up my way from the bottom.
