So, apparently the beginning of the month is a slow time for our company. Maybe it's just today. I don't know what the answer is, but it was definitely boring as all get up. I ended up walking around for a large portion of the day, trying to look busy. Fortunately, I was manning the water-jet machine (more on that in a minute) so I could just walk over to it, and pretend I was waiting for something to complete. And it's true, I could have been, but not always. It just seemed quieter.
So the water-jet machine. This is a machine that uses water to cut things--like rubber, foam, or steel. STEEL!? Yes, with the help of sand, this thing blasts at steel with 40,000psi and totally rips it to shreds. It's an awesome concept, but not really that fun to watch, in all honesty--it's all done underwater. It does leave marvelous piles of sand over everything in the unit, though.
I called my insturance agent today to file a claim for the accident I got into in June. I just couldn't afford to just throw away $700 like that. The rate increase actually works out to be less, anyway. It was pretty 'muh'-inducing doing the call and thinking about it, especially without anything else to fix my mind upon. On the plus side, my old roommate deposited my security deposit check, so I'm definitely more secure financially now. And I'll be getting my first half-paycheck on Wednesday. Hooray money.
I'm actually really adapting well to working from 7:30-3:30. It's pretty impressive.
Also, yesterday, at Powell's I found a really cool thing that I know someone would like. They're not talking to me, but I'm pretty sure they still read this. Anyway, I'm just wondering if it'd be well-received.
Question of the Day
(with due gratitude to MissMyla)
Give me a reason to build a building. Like, who's living there, how many people, what are they interested in having in there. Or what kind of company, or what landscape around it. Just give me some sort of constraint.
