I watched a movie tonight. One of the characters blamed his son's behavior on MTV. I don't think I'm part of the MTV generation, or I've been too terribly corrupted by MTV. I'm part of a far more troubling movement--the internet.
Here I am in Boise, surrounded by family and what do I do? I go surf the internet on my laptop for most of my waking hours. Yes, I did spend time with family. We ate together as a family and I visited my grandma's burial site. Apart from that, I didn't really do too much socialization. I didn't really feel like it was necessary, but at the same time, I did. Every time I came back to the house, the first thing I would do is check my email and all my usual websites; then I'd go back and talk to people.
What's happening to us as a generation? I know we're already labeled as Generation Y or the Nintendo Generation. What does this hold for the future though? Are we going to slowly phase out real-life-interaction? What is going to happen to us when our email address is more tangible and important than our home address?
I dunno. But, as I am here updating on my online journal, rather than one made of bound paper, I guess I'm just fueling this fire, huh?
One a completely separate (I hope) note: I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. I know I did.
