today I went with my friend nick to a local grocery store to buy some cigarettes. I'm standing in line with nick, who isn't making a purchase. when I ask the cashier for a pack of camels she asks to see my ID, which isn't out of the ordinary. but then she asks nick if she can look at his ID. Nick is obviously of age. he says to her 'well, ok, but I'm not buying anything' and shows his ID anyway. I ask her why she needs to look at his ID. 'well' she snips, 'thats the law'. then I say , 'so, let me get this straight, If a parent came in with their 12 year old kid, and the parent bought some cigs, would you ask the kid for ID?' 'Yes, absolutely, that's the law''.
That's bullshit.
She's a liar.
Is there a law about that?
I'd love to go back in there with a camera.
Was I out of line even saying anything?
help me out.
