Hey now, hey now...
Heylo again. I'm not sure what to write in my journal today. I just know I haven't updated it in a while.
Thanks to those who gave me ideas for a caricature sculpt. Thus far, Johnny Cash is winning in popularity, and when I think about it, he would make a good sculpture. Ode to Johnny you can say. Ironically, I did a sculpt of Siskel&Ebert some years back. The day I finshed them, I heard in the news that Gene Siskel had died. Weird really. I'll have to post a pic of them soon. I used to do the busts only about 10 to 18 inches high, and in sculpey-which, granted they turned out nice, but they were very fragile, and couldn't be moved easily.
So, I have a majority of them stored at my parents, on one of their display shelves. I've made about 40 of those damn things. My Billy Bob Thorton from 'Sling Blade' was unfortunately broken last year, after my roommate's girlfriend's daughter thought it was a toy, and dropped it. Oh well, I thought that one would be fun to do bigger to.
I also thought that mayhaps Tim Burton himself would be a hoot to sculpt. That guy is super cool, and he's got an awesome face. I love his artwork to, so maybe an ode to him? We'll see.
I need to do somethign more creative in my off work time. Lately, I've just been catching up with movies. I own about 600 DVDs, I don't believe in renting, so I generally just buy them and watch them even if I haven't seen the movie before or not. My rational behind it all is, I can pay th 15 bucks for the movie, watch it once, and loan it out a few times, and save other people money. Plus, to go to a movie now, at night anyway, is $8 a pop-fuck that. Though there are some movies that have to be seen in the theaters. I'm looking forward to the next LOTR movie.
Last night I watched a documentary I had been looking for, called "Keep the River on your Right", which was about a true life account of a man that disappeared in the Peruvian Jungle some 45 years ago, and came back a year later-only to discover he had been presumed dead. During his time in the jungle, he had lived with a tribe of cannibals, and even participated in one of their raids on a neighboring village. He did partake in the cannibalism, and regretted it to this day. Though, he was fairly open minded with other cultures and beliefs, but realized that in our society, that kind of thing is frowned upon. It was an excellent documentary, not the best I've seen, but worth a watch.
Can I babble more?
Oh, and I called my mother this morning, to let her knwo I'd be stopping by to drop of some Christmas presents. I failed to realize how tired I must have sounded on the phone, and she thought I was depressed or something. And my dad called me later to see if I was all right. I tried to convince him I was, but I think he doesn't believe me. I am all right though, just tired. It makes me smile to knwo they care so much though.
Ok, I'm outta here-keep the suggestions coming for the bust ideas though, I'm still undecided at this point.
And I thank you for participating.

That or my next choices would be:
Iggy Pop
Mickey Rourke
I think they have interesting faces.
