Im back from Cincinnati. Oktoberfest was a blast. I found out that The Cincinnati Oktoberfest is the largest Oktoberfest in the USA, and the second largest in the world (behind Munich Germanys). Saturday night was the first time I was ever down there at night time (we didnt get down there till 10 pm). It was crazy. It was like Mardi Gras (minus the nudity). There were simply too many people in the streets that night, and most of them consisted of young drunk kids. You had to fight your way through the crowds just to get a beer. I didnt like that much. Sunday morning was much better though. It seems like thats when the old people go and I like it better that way. Its much less crowded and far more relaxing. Im so obsessed with Hey Heys Sauerkraut balls. Hey Heys is located in Columbus. I must go there soon and feed my obsessionummm.
So every year they get a famous person to start the chicken dance, a few years ago it was Mini-Me (dont know his real name..) and this year it was Vince Neil. Yes, the same Vince Neil that was the lead singer of Motley Crue. I just thought that was too funny. Just seeing him up there doing the chicken dance, Whoo boy, I just couldnt stop laughing! We were all shouting out things like Shout at the Chicken and other song titles with one word replaced by chicken. I wonder if he was embarrassed. Maybe he just really likes the Chicken Dance.
Im sad that its over with for another year though. Very very sad. At least the Dayton Art Institute Oktoberfest is in two weeks, AND Hey Heys will be there too. YUM.
Anyway, it is so nice and cool outside this morning. It feels like fall outside and I LOVE it. The first day of autumn is Wednesday! This is my favorite time of the year. I get to break out my comfy sweaters, wear layers, go to festivals, make Chile, turn off the A/C and open the windows, make hot rum and cider.. So exciting. I also put up some Halloween decorations on Friday. I put these really cool purple and orange lights all around the deck, its awesome. Im super excited about Halloween this year because Mike and I own a house now so we can finally decorate the house and hand out Halloween candy! We could never really do that in the apartment. In the six years I lived in apartments I never got one trick-or-treater
::update::
Is it just me or is this a little rude?:
"I guess I shouldn't be suprised what you can convince a bunch of drunken wanna be Germans is cool."
So just because one goes to an Oktoberfest makes them a wanna-be German? Haha, i really hope thats not what he meant....I dont think anyone thinks the chicken dance is cool, Its more like this:
Widely known as the Chicken Dance, this dance song was composed by Werner Thomas in the 1970s in Davos, Switzerland, and was originally entitled Der Ententanz, which means The Duck Dance, but became known as the Vogeltanz, Chicken Dance, and also as Dance Little Bird. Their were many versions of this that became hit songs, but the song and dance have had the greatest longevity in the U.S., where it has become a popular German heritage song.
Anyway. I'm fucking German. Not a wanna-be German. And im also a drunk German who doesnt think it is cool..
