I have returned from my trip. Not without incident, but I'm back. [For example, my luggage is still not back]. This is the second time in three months that Miami International Airport has found it impossible to return my bag to me. If you're not big on wading through pictures, you should probably skip the rest of this entry. My cell phone was the best friend I had on this trip. Between the camera and the wireless web, we were attatched at the hip.
Went to Vegas with my family. Gambled. Went to Cirque De Soleil ['O' at the Bellagio and 'Ka' at the MGM Grand]. They were both great, but Ka was more impressive. Shopped, in a mostly exploratory manner, checked out the shops at the Stratosphere, the Forum Shops at Caesars, and a bit of the shopping at the Venetian and Bellagio. We saw an IMAX at the Luxor and the Pirates 4-D thing there, which was funny because it had Leslie Nielsen and Eric Idle. We were staying at the MGM Grand, where I had my single highest payout on a slot machine the whole trip.
Oggled the ceiling of the Bellagio lobby, I'm a big fan of hand blown glass. Or, really any art in general. Checked out the Guggenheim Hermitage at the Venetian, wonderful exhibition of Egyptian artifacts, each piece more impressive than the last. The ceilings in the Venetian weren't bad either.
Had a look at some wildlife at the MGM Grand, and Mandalay Bay.
Saw a "Topless Rock and Roll Vampire Revue" called Bite.
Then we went on to Seattle. We had an awful time at hotel check-in. We arrived at 3 PM, and didn't have hotel rooms till nearly 6. Lots of time was spent between Nordstrom and Pike Place Market. Everytime anyone I was with ordered a steak, they recieved a vein cut. I've listened to more complaints about meat than I ever thought could have been made. Never made it to the SAM while I was there. The best thing about the trip was the tattoo that I got done at Madame Lazonga's Tattoo. I'd be all about posting pictures, but.. I don't have one at the moment. But, it's a phoenix, and it took about six hours to finish. Drank lots of coffee, hung out with an inter-web friend. Got new shoes at Jon Fluevog. Forgot to bring back gifts for anyone. Don't have a whole lot of pictures from Seattle..
But, there was this dress in the window at the Fairmont which was rather gorgeous.
The marzipan construct strawberry garnish at the hotel. It was just clever.
The toeless pigeon near the University.
And graffiti with the most neatly crafted anarchy symbol I've ever seen.
Oh, and did I mention that my mother had a good time with the vampires as well?
