Hm. So, I think the only thing there is to say, is that I've been a bit of a bad kitty. I had family in from out of town for the weekend and haven't updated properly in way too long.
Anyway, yah. My mother was in from Florida for a break for the weekend, and I'll actually be heading there myself this weekiend.
Shot my most recent short the day before Halloween. I hate it, I'm trying to save it in editing, which is always a mistake. It's not the actors' faults. They made a valiant effort. My crew was just.. unmanagable.
Saw The Machinist on Halloween. The movie itself wasn't that amazing, but the lengths that Christian Bale went to for that role boggle my mind. The man dropped down to skin and bones, heavy on the bones. It was unsettling to look at him when he had his shirt off.
Last Monday, I went to see Le Tigre at Irving Plaza. I got there really late, but I did make it before their set started up. I was pretty impressed with their show, if only because I wasn't so impressed with their latest album. I went home feeling quite satisfied, really. For their encore, they all came out wearing matching "Stop Bush" outfits.
Tuesday I saw KMFDM. The openers were Terrorfakt, which had a really creepy visual that they ran. I can say I'm still slightly unsettled. The set was interesting. After Terrorfakt was DJ Accucrak (sp?) I was slightly more impressed. Actually got pretty into it, despite feeling literally sickened from the visual reel during Terrorfakt. I felt better by the time that KMFDM came on. They were absolutely amazing. I wasn't at all disappointed. I took some shitty pictures with my phone cam, I'll probably toss them up.
Wednesday I took some 'me' time and I saw Saw. It was.. I dunno. Interesting. I wouldn't say it was good, but I did enjoy watching it. Thursday followed with more 'me' time. Mostly napping at my place, wishing I had something more interesting to do.
Skinny Puppy was Friday. They closed with Smothered Hope. I almost feel like that's enough said, but. The show was amazing. More crappy pictures. But I think only one or two.
My mother came into town on Friday and just left today, so I was with her between now and then. Saw Hairspray on Friday night. Really nice seats. It was a great treat. Sunday afternoon brought a matinee of Avenue Q. For the holidays, all the shows are raising money for Braodway cares, Equity Fights AIDS and at Avenue Q, they auctioned off a backstage tour, which was very interesting. The backstage area there was absolutely tiny and there are about more than two dozen puppets that they use in the show. For anyone who is really curious, both the Lucy and Kate puppets have nipples.
A lot of wandering around with my mother, and a lot of shopping as well. It's kinda nice when someone else foots the bill for you. Gave my apartment a serious cleaning, and sent my cat for a bath today.
I may go offline for a few days, my cat took it upon himself to push my laptop off of the nightstand the other night and the screen was open. Now, it's starting to break in two. I'm attempting to get it fixed tomorrow, but.. Apple isn't really big on fixing anything that isn't under warrant, or anything that isn't the most recent technology.
HIM and Manson next week. Possibly an extra ticket for both. Nothing planned for this week. It makes me quite quite sad.
